On the evening of March 25, the “Magnificent Chinese Music” concert—a special event under the “Aesthetic Education Immersion Initiative” organized by Xidian University—was held in the Theater of the Student Activity Center on the Chang'an Campus. The event featured special performances by the Shaanxi National Orchestra and the Shaanxi Provincial Radio and Television National Orchestra, conducted by renowned maestro Bai Lei. Over 400 faculty and students from Xidian University attended the concert.

The concert opened with the national orchestral piece “Bow Dance,” whose vigorous melodies and distinct rhythms showcased both a majestic grandeur and a lively rhythm. The orchestra then performed “The Grand Courtyard,” composed by Mr. Zhao Jiping. The piece blends elements of Peking Opera music, capturing both the distinctive tones and rhythms of the genre while maintaining a grand and majestic atmosphere. The suona (Chinese oboe) and the orchestra complemented each other beautifully, vividly recreating “A Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix” and showcasing the exceptional expressiveness of traditional Chinese instruments.

Artists from the Shaanxi National Orchestra and the Shaanxi Provincial Radio and Television National Orchestra also engaged in face-to-face exchanges with faculty and students of the university’s folk music ensemble. They provided guidance on aspects such as sectional balance, emotional expression, and fundamental technique training, offering valuable insights for the development of the university’s folk music ensemble.
