On October 18th, the 2025 Alumni Home-coming Gathering of Xidian University (XDU) was held on the South Campus. Over 1,300 participants attended the event, including former major administrators of XDU, retired faculty members, teacher representatives, alumni entrepreneurs, representatives from alumni associations, and student representatives.
XDU President Xinbo Gao, on behalf of the university, extended most sincere gratitude to all the attendees for their long-standing concern and support for XDU’s development. He reviewed XDU’s 94-year journey of struggle, which has resonated with the nation’s destiny and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation. He also expounded on the goal, motto of XDU and the university’s educational tradition in talent cultivation.
Gao pointed out that over the past 94 years, the university’s proudest achievement has been cultivating generations of outstanding talents. Currently, the world is in a period of accelerated evolution in a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, with deep integration between science & technology and economic & social development. This presents both a significant opportunity bestowed by the era and a historical mission that Xidian indispensably bears.
The Event had four chapters, and Chapter I Meeting at XDU: Fellowship started with a video of sand painting which told the story of five alumni who co-founded a business on Information Technology. XDU Vice President Hongwei Liu presented them with Alumni Cards and customized framed photos. Chapter II Gratitude to XDU: Teacher-Student Bond introduced a Vlog about alumni of 1997 visiting their former teacher. Several veteran teachers with over thirty years of service were invited to the stage, receiving flowers from alumni representatives. And in Chapter III Reunion at XDU: Homeland Sentiment alumni representatives shared their own stories about integrating personal pursuits into the collective and national endeavors.
In Chapter IV: Our Love for XDU: Alma Mater Affection, over forty alumni couples held a special collective wedding ceremony on site. Secretary Xiaolong Ren delivered his best wishes to them. The gathering concluded with the university anthem.
