Recently, a cultural heritage experience event co-organized by the university and the Yanta District Culture and Tourism departments was held at the XDU Yanta Campus. The event showcased the top ten distinctive intangible cultural heritage projects of Yanta District, bringing these traditional skills out of exhibition halls and into the campus, offering faculty and students an immersive experience that combined visual appeal, hands-on activities, and cultural depth.

At the event, various heritage projects—including tea ceremonies, Tang-style lacquered fans, sugar painting, dough sculpting, and palm-leaf weaving—were showcased one after another. Heritage bearers demonstrated their skills on-site and explained the cultural significance behind them, while teachers and students enthusiastically participated and tried their hand at these crafts. Through hands-on practice, teachers and students felt the warmth and craftsmanship of these traditional arts.

The Hanfu parade, featuring a procession of 18 graduate students, became a striking highlight of the event. Under the expert guidance of Hanfu heritage practitioners, the students donned traditional attire characterized by precise tailoring and exquisite patterns.

The event also featured a special segment where faculty and students collaborated to create intangible cultural heritage works. Inheritors worked hand-in-hand with the students to incorporate campus symbols, revolutionary culture, and regional characteristics into the pieces, resulting in four cultural and creative works uniquely bearing the mark of Xidian University.

Using intangible cultural heritage as a bridge, the event allowed ancient crafts to illuminate the youthful campus, guiding faculty and students to engage with and appreciate these traditions. It enabled them to experience the unique charm of China’s outstanding traditional culture, where youthful vitality met the steadfast dedication of artisans.
