On the afternoon of March 18, the ninth session of the “Zhongnan Aesthetic Education Lecture Series” was held at the National Engineering Research Center on the Chang’an Campus of Xidian University. The event featured Mr. Jiang Jinyi, a renowned conductor celebrated both domestically and internationally, Artistic Director of the China National Symphony Orchestra Chorus, and Distinguished Professor at the Central Conservatory of Music, as the keynote speaker. XDU Vice President Wang Quan attended the event.
The event attracted nearly 600 faculty members and students. Attendees included colleagues from institutions such as Northwestern Polytechnical University, Chang’an University, the Shaanxi Provincial Theater, and high schools, as well as representatives from various artistic troupes.

Wang Quan delivered the opening remarks. He noted that, against the backdrop of rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, artistic and humanistic literacy plays an irreplaceable role in talent development. He emphasized that the university has consistently regarded general education and aesthetic education as the cornerstones of talent development, and continues to promote the deep integration of science with the humanities and arts through this platform.

The lecture adopted a format combining explanation, demonstration, and interaction. The university’s student choir performed several songs live, and Jiang Jinyi provided feedback on each performance, noting that current music education tends to overemphasize technique at the expense of emotion. He stressed that music should not be confined to the stage but should instead be integrated into daily life to nourish the soul.
During the interactive session, attendees all engaged with faculty and students on topics including the relationship between music and life, and the balance between technical training and emotional expression.
