Launch Ceremony Held for Joint Education Training Programs Between Xidian University and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman

On March 9, the launch ceremony for the joint education programs between Xidian University (XDU) and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) was held in the Conference Center on the Chang’an Campus. In attendance were Professor Zhang Jincheng, Vice President of Xidian University; Professor Ewe Hong Tat, President of UTAR, and heads of relevant departments from both universities and representatives from partner organizations involved in the project.

Zhang Jincheng extended a warm welcome to the delegation from UTAR. He noted that since establishing their partnership, the two universities have achieved fruitful results in academic exchanges and scientific research collaboration. The launch of this joint program marks a comprehensive expansion of their cooperation from the realm of scientific research into the field of talent cultivation. He expressed hope that both universities would seize this opportunity to deepen educational cooperation and jointly cultivate high-caliber, internationally-oriented talent.

Professor Ewe Hong Tat expressed gratitude for the warm reception extended by XDU. He stated that UTAR places great importance on its strategic partnership with XDU, and that the joint education program represents another significant milestone. He looked forward to engaging in more practical cooperation in the future across areas such as teaching, research, and faculty and student exchanges, working together to elevate Sino-Malaysian educational cooperation to new heights.

During the meeting, representatives from both sides exchanged Cooperation Agreements for the (2+2 Bachelor’s and 0.5+1 Master’s) programs.

Subsequently, representatives from both institutions provided detailed presentations on the joint programs. The programs aim to fully leverage the academic strengths of both universities to offer students diverse pathways for growth. In the presence of all attendees, the joint education program was officially launched.

The launch of the joint education programs represents a significant step for the university in deepening international exchange and cooperation and advancing the “Double First-Class” initiative, while also injecting new vitality into cooperation between China and Malaysia in the field of higher education. Moving forward, the two universities will continue to work hand in hand to establish a model for cross-border educational cooperation.
