XDU International Students Attend the Cultural Exchanging Event Between China and Central Asian Countries

Time: Oct 27, 2025

On the afternoon of October 22nd, the Sino–Central Asia Cultural Exchanging Event was grandly held in Xi’an. Invited by the China-Central Asia Mechanism, Xidian University (XDU) called on international students to join this event.

Ten of XDU’s international students performed the Turkmen national dance called Lezginka. As an important part of Turkmen national culture, Lezginka symbolizes strength and grace. The dance is popular not only in Turkmenistan but also across the Caucasus. It is frequently performed at festivals and concerts, serving as a cultural bridge between regions and expressing the peoples’ shared passion for music and dance. Presented by the international students of XDU, this re-creation of the classic dance served as a tribute to traditional culture, while offering a modern interpretation of the art of dance.

During this event, international students from five Central Asian countries vividly demonstrated the idea of ‘Beauty in Diversity and Harmony in Coexistence’, reflecting the integration and exchange among different cultures.

The participation of XDU’s international students not only showcased their talent and enthusiasm, but also enhanced understanding and friendship between Chinese and foreign students, adding new meaning to the region’s multicultural development.

The China–Central Asia Mechanism, initiated by China in 2020, is a multilateral cooperation platform comprising China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. This event was co-organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of Shaanxi Province and Shaanxi Provincial Education Department. Eight universities participated in the event.
