To enrich the cultural and academic life of international students in Shaanxi Province and deepen educational and people-to-people exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative, the “Singing Across Continents, Shining Around the Globe --The 2025 International Students Culture and Art Festival of Shaanxi Province” was grandly held on the evening of November 26, 2025, at the Cultural Activity Center of the North Campus of Xidian University (XDU). Representatives from various Consulates General in Xi’an, the China-Central Asia Mechanism Secretariat, and relevant provincial departments attended the event. XDU President Xinbo Gao participated alongside over 1,200 international students from 39 universities.
Centered around the theme “Singing Across Continents, Shining Around the Globe”, the event brought together international students from various universities across the province. Through diverse artistic performances, it aimed to showcase the unique charm of different cultures and promote mutual learning among civilizations and the building of friendship.
The performance was divided into two chapters — “Diverse Continents, Cradle of Civilizations” and “Eastern Charm, Harmony in Diversity.” The opening act, Drums of the Continents, a collaborative performance by Xidian University and Xi’an Jiaotong University, set the tone with its powerful drumbeats. Subsequent performances, including the Mongolian dance Northern Winds by Xi’an Bo-Ai School, the song Follow Me, Enunciate Clearly by international students of Chang’an University, and the Central Asian dance Silk Road Caravan Bells by Northwest A&F University, vividly illustrated the blending and interaction of diverse global cultures.
The second chapter focused on Chinese culture, featuring programs rich in Eastern charm such as the Han & Tang inspired performance Blue and White Porcelain, the classical dance Ode to Dance in Sanqin, and the opera medley Legends in Light and Shadow. Among these, Legends in Light and Shadow, presented by students from our university, stood out as a highlight by innovatively integrating robotic shadow puppetry with modern opera, offering a fresh interpretation of traditional culture. The Festival event concluded with all performers joining in the chorus of You and Me, conveying a message of friendship and bringing the event to a perfect close.
This cultural festival was not merely an audio-visual feast but also a significant platform for Shaanxi Province to promote international educational exchange and cultural cooperation. We sincerely invite guests from all sectors to join us in witnessing this spectacular cross-border celebration of youth.
