Students won first prize in the 1st National AI Innovation Application Competition

In order to thoroughly implement the decision and deployment of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council on accelerating the innovation and development of AI industry, and promote the deep integration of AI and the real economy, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology and Shenzhen Municipal People's Government jointly hosted the first "Xingzhi Cup" National Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Application Competition.


After intense competition, the Brain Intelligence Matrix team, with the Xidian competition team as the leading unit and 8 teachers and students from Tsinghua University and Shandong University, won the first prize in the final of the competition, ranking the first in the prediction of drug molecular protein binding ability. Our university participants include three undergraduate students, Zhang Kaihao, Zhou Xingyu and Yuan Jiahui. Professor Li Pengyong is the instructor of the competition.

It is reported that this competition has a total of more than 9000 teams and 16,300 participants. 152 teams entered the finals after the preliminary competition of various professional tracks. There were 23 first prizes, 37 second prizes and 50 third prizes selected in the final. In the fields of industry, energy, medical care, medicine, network and communication, a number of innovative achievements and industrial solutions with advanced technologies, new ideas and excellent performance have emerged.

In order to solve the problem of predicting the protein binding ability of drug molecules, the team designed a scoring function of protein binding ability of drug molecules based on Fourier coding distance characteristics. This method greatly improves the accuracy and efficiency of drug screening, helps to reduce the cost of drug research and development, enhances the competitiveness of domestic new drugs in the international market, empowers the pharmaceutical industry and realizes technological innovation with its strong engineering ability and broad potential application scenarios.
