On May 21-23, the 2021 University Tennis Championships hosted by the Federation of University Sports of China (FUSC) and executed by the Tennis Branch of the FUSC was held at Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology (Caotang Campus). A total of more than 200 athletes from 16 universities in Shaanxi, Shanxi, Ningxia, Henan, Gansu, Qinghai and other provinces participated in the competition. Xidian tennis team worked hard to prepare for it, and made a historic breakthrough, winning the men’s team championship.
The competition was highly valued by the leaders of the Department of Physical Education. The Xidian tennis team is led by Yu Shaoyong, Director of the Department of Physical Education. Teacher Cao Feng is the coach, leading 8 students to participate in the competition.
It is reported that this competition used the most advanced electronic automatic drawing technology to determine the winner in the form of a team competition. In the final, Xidian defeated Xi’an Jiaotong University with scores of 6:0, 6:3, and finally won the championship, achieving a historic breakthrough since participating in the competition.
Xidian tennis team composed of ordinary students demonstrated strong strength in the regional competition of the 2021 University Tennis Championships. The players demonstrated the sportsmanship of hard work and perseverance. This success is closely related to the school leaders’ emphasis on physical education, the Department of Physical Education’s strong support of student sports team, and the tennis team’s persistence in training all the year round. This championship enables Xidian tennis team to participate in the 2021 University Tennis Championships National Finals.
