The International Union of Radio Science (URSI) inaugurated the selection of “URSI young scientists” in October, 2018 to commend and encourage young scientists who have made immense technological advances in the field of radio science. The eligible fields include communication, electronics, optics, electromagnetic interference, remote sensing, plasma wave, radio astronomy, etc. After careful appraisal by specialists and the jury, associate professor Cheng Wenchi of Xidian University has been granted a seat in the “URSI young scientists” with his thesis, Self-interference Suppression for Full-duplex Antenna Based on Dual Array Elements.
An associate professor and a doctoral tutor at XDU, Cheng Wenchi is a senior member of IEEE who holds positions such as the co-president of IEEE 5G Roadmap, the president of IEEE GLOBECOM 2020 Wireless Communication Branch and the president of the Intelligent Emergency Communication Network Workshop of IEEE ICC 2019, the president of IEEE ICC 2019 Publicity, the president of IEEE ICCC 2019 Wireless Network Branch, as well as the president of IEEE ICCC 2017 Internet of Things. Dedicated to research related to wireless communication with high spectral efficiency and short latency, he has successively participated in projects including the Natural Science Foundation in China, National Key Research and Development Program, CMC Science and Technology Commission Frontier Exploration, and Shaanxi Province Key Research and Development Program. He is the author of two monographs and has over 80 SCI papers published in key periodicals, as well as 10 national invention patents. His personal endeavors and qualities are well demonstrated in a series of awards and titles.
