On 12 April 2019, Vice President Xinbo Gao met the delegation of University of Chester, led by Vice Chancellor and Principal Tim Wheeler. Jin Huang, Executive Dean of School of Mechano-Electronic Engineering and Hao Chen, Director General of Division of International Cooperation and Exchanges attended the meeting.

Xinbo Gao expressed his welcome to the delegation and gave an introduction to Xidian University. He hoped both universities could take this visit as a good opportunity to expand more collaboration on the basis of current research cooperation.
Tim Wheeler extended his appreciation for the hospitality by Xidian University to his delegation. He introduced the history and current status of University of Chester. He would like to explore multi-level cooperation and exchanges with Xidian University.
After the meeting, Tim Wheeler gave Xidian’s faculty and students a presentation on the topic of Lessons for the Future: Reflections on Developing a Modern International University. The presentation is the fifth presentation of Xidian’s Serial International Forum.
Founded in 1839, University of Chester is located in the ancient city of Chester (the capital of Cheshire) in the northwest of England. It is one of the oldest universities in the UK and now has nearly 20,000 students.
