Guangzhou Institute of technology is a high-level, leading, and international industry-university-research collaboration entity jointly established by Xidian University and the Guangzhou municipal government. It follows the development principles of high starting point, high standards, and high-quality operations, serving as a key initiative for Xidian University to proactively align with national strategic demands, seize opportunities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and support local economic development. The institute focuses on key areas such as integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, big data, 5G applications, the Internet of Things, and cybersecurity. The goal is to establish the Guangzhou Institute of technology as a “Star of the Bay Area”—a hub for industrial-academic collaboration and a magnet for top-tier talent in core technology fields.
Guangzhou Institute of technology is located at 83 Zhiming Road, Guangzhou Knowledge City, Huangpu District, Guangzhou, with a total planned area of 160 acres and a construction area of approximately 300,000 square meters. It was officially put into use in 2024. The institute currently has over 200 full-time faculty members and more than 400 part-time researchers. The institute currently enrolls more than 2,000 graduate students.
The Guangzhou Institute of technology follows the principles of “creating new spaces, implementing new ideas, and establishing new mechanisms”, bringing together resources from the government, university, enterprises, and institutions to build a high-end industrial platform based on openness, sharing, contribution, and development. By establishing a collaborative training model involving government, industries, and universities, it aims to create a 'Bay Area Model' for the training of outstanding engineers.
