With the authorization of the State Planning Commission in 1989, the State Key Laboratory of Integrated Services Networks (ISN) of Xidian University was founded in 1991. In October 1995, it passed the national project evaluation and officially started operation. It has passed four consecutive national academic evaluations in 2002, 2007, 2012 and 2017, respectively, and was rated “excellent” in the 2017 evaluation.
The ISN state key laboratory involves the three national first-level disciplines of Information and Communication Engineering, Cyberspace Security, and Science of Command. Among the major fields of research are communication network architecture and key technologies, source coding and intelligent processing technology, information transmission theory and technology, and information security & cryptography theory and technology. At present, the focus is on pioneering research on and original innovations in network communication to lead the novel aerospace network information technologies. It has won 13 second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
With 23 renowned research scientists and a number of national-level research teams, the ISN state key laboratory serves as an important base for both training talents and scientific and technological innovation.
The scientific research site of the ISN state key laboratory covers an area of 7500 square meters, with 136 sets of large-scale instruments and equipment of a total value of more than 90 million yuan. There are public instrument platforms and test environments such as the broadband large-scale wireless transmission system (infield/outfield) test platform and test environment, the space-air-ground integrated network performance evaluation and test analysis platform, the multi-mode big data acquisition, storage and intelligent processing platform, the high-performance simulation and cloud computing platform, and the 40GHz shielded room.
The ISN state key laboratory has been developing frequent and extensive international academic exchanges and cooperation, with close ties with many famous universities and scientific research institutions in the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Finland and so on. A number of visiting scholars have carried out their research here. Many international and national academic conferences of global influence are hosted here every year.
