School of Electronic Engineering

The School of Electronic Engineering of Xidian University has a long history with a strong academic strength in education operation. Founded in 1952, it is one of the earliest departments in China to set up majors including radar, microwave antenna and DZDK. After 70 years of development, it has formed its distinctive characteristics and advantages in electronics and information disciplines.


The School has three disciplines with master's and doctoral degrees programs (all these are national key disciplines categorized into seven doctoral specialties and eight master's specialties), and four undergraduate majors.


Adhering to morality-first and student-oriented education with teachers being the core competitiveness, the School has forged a well-structured and innovative faculty group. At present, there are 374 faculty members, including 329 full-time faculty members, 146 full-time doctoral supervisors and 264 full-time master supervisors. The school has 4 national-level innovation teams and 2 Ministry-of-Education-level innovation teams.


Adhering to the ideal of "competency-based and classified education", the School has actively explored and implemented a series of innovative talent cultivation mode reforms, such as the "Excellent Engineers Education and Training Program", "Bi Dexian Teaching Reform Class", and "Sino-French Cooperative Education Project". Over the past five years, our students have won more than 100 prizes in various national-level academic as well as science and technology competitions. Highly favored by employers, our graduate and undergraduate students have kept the employment rates above 99.4 % and 98% respectively.


The School has 6 national-level research platforms, 3 Ministry-of-Education-level research platforms, 3 Shaanxi Provincial-level research platforms, 3 national-level experiment teaching demonstration centers, and 2 Shaanxi Provincial-level experiment teaching demonstration centers. The School produced the first meteorological precipitation-monitoring radar after the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, developed the first programmable radar signal processor and the first generation of large-scale phased array radar in China, made a number of landmark achievements in the fields of radar, antenna and microwave, information security, artificial intelligence, etc.   


During its 70 years of operation, the School has trained for the nation a large number of well-known scholars, senior managers, leading electronic information talents as well as more than 30,000 outstanding talents in related fields, making important contributions to national construction and social progress. In future, the School will continue to stick to the path of intensive development. By giving full play to the advantages of specialized research fields and comprehensive academic strength, we will stand in the frontier of global science and technology development, meet the major needs of the nation, focus on the main battlefields in national economy, gather the first-class team to cultivate outstanding talents, make first-rate achievements and contributions, and make unremitting efforts to build a world-class school with distinctive characteristics in electronic information.
