施巍松教授(Prof. Weisong Shi),IEEE FellowACM Distinguished  Scientist, 美国韦恩州立大学Charles  H. Gershenson杰出教授,移动与互联网系统结构实验室主任,Intel  Internet of Things 创新实验室主任。美国国家科学基金会杰出青年教授奖获得者(NSF  CAREER Award),全国百篇优秀博士论文获得者(2002),中国科学院海外评审专家。20132015年间任美国国家科学基金会(NSF)项目主任。施巍松于19957月本科毕业于西安电子科技大学计算机系,20001月在中科院计算所获得博士学位。施巍松教授的研究兴趣包括计算机系统、边缘计算和可持续计算。施巍松教授是边缘计算这一研究领域的主要倡导者并长期致力于边缘计算在工业界的推广。他联合主持了2016年美国NSF Workshop on  Grand Challenges in Edge Computing,同时也是 ACM/IEEE 国际边缘计算研讨会(SEC)的创始人。在计算机系统领域的分布式共享存储,移动互联网计算和高效能系统结构等方向,取得多项有重要影响力的研究成果,在相关领域的高级杂志和会议上发表了170多篇论文,其中SCI论文80多篇, H-Index 值为36。他领导的科研团队开发的开源软件被学术界和工业界广泛使用,包括Intel,阿里巴巴等等。其中基于MapReduce的基因序列对准软件CloudAligner已经被来自十几个国家的研究教育机构下载1500+次以上,进程级功耗分析工具pTop在过去五年里被30多个国家的科研人员下载700+多次,软件功耗分析工具SPAN 也被下载500+次。

Lecture Abstract

The proliferation of  Internet of Everything and the success of rich cloud services have pushed the  horizon of a new computing paradigm, Edge computing, which calls for  processing the data at the edge of the network. Edge computing has the  potential to address the concerns of response time requirement, battery life  constraint, bandwidth cost saving, as well as data safety and privacy. In  this talk, he will discuss the vision and challenges of Edge Computing,  followed by their recent work on Firework, a data sharing and processing  framework for Cloud-Edge analytics.
